Newsletter 209: The Typing Struggle: A Dyslexic's Journey to Reclaiming My Voice

🧠 Overcoming the Typing Trap: How AI Unlocked My Authentic Voice as a Dyslexic Creator

Welcome Back, Dyslexic Hero’s!

Hello, fellow dyslexic readers! I'm Matt Ivey, and this is the 209th edition of the Dyslexic AI Newsletter. Today, I want to share my journey with typing and how AI has transformed this daunting task into an empowering experience.

For as long as I can remember, typing has been my kryptonite. As someone with dyslexia, the mere thought of having to craft an email or compose a text message would fill me with crippling anxiety.

While my mind was constantly buzzing with ideas and thoughts, I was desperate to share; getting those words out onto the screen felt insurmountable.

In my professional life, this struggle was incredibly debilitating. I worked in an environment that demanded constant written communication—reports, presentations, client emails, you name it.

With each keystroke, I'd find myself second-guessing every word, paralyzed by the fear of making embarrassing mistakes.

It reached a point where I would actively avoid any situation that required significant typing, even if it meant missing out on opportunities to showcase my true capabilities.

This typing-induced anxiety seeped into my personal life as well. Connecting with friends and loved ones through text messages and social media became a source of dread, not joy.

I felt like I was constantly letting people down, unable to respond promptly or articulate myself clearly. The isolation and self-doubt this created was truly devastating.

Rediscovering My Voice with AI:

About a year ago, I reached a breaking point. To continue living like this, my passion for learning, coaching, and sharing knowledge was stifled by my inability to type easily.

That's when I decided to embark on a journey of rediscovering my voice with the help of some unexpected allies: AI tools.

Discovering Storied

First, I found Storied, a platform that allowed me to structure my thoughts and ideas through an intuitive voice-to-text interface.

Speaking my mind rather than struggling with the keyboard was nothing short of liberating.

I felt the words flowing out of me with a clarity and authenticity I hadn't experienced in years.

Exploring Other AI Solutions

But Storied was just the beginning. I then explored other AI-powered solutions, like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, each offering unique capabilities to enhance my writing process further.

ChatGPT became my go-to for drafting quick, concise responses, while Claude and Gemini helped me elevate my creativity and ensure my messages were polished and impactful.

Unleashing My Passion

With these tools at my disposal, the floodgates opened. In less than a year, I've created over 200 articles, newsletters, and social media posts—a feat I couldn't have imagined without the support of AI.

And the best part? I'm not just churning out content; I'm finally able to share my true passions and expertise with the world authentically and effortlessly.

Reclaiming Confidence and Autonomy

As I reflect on this journey, I'm struck by the profound impact these AI solutions have had on my life.

They haven't just alleviated my typing woes; they've given me back the confidence and autonomy I thought I had lost forever.

I no longer have to shrink away from written communication; instead, I can embrace it as a powerful tool for connection, learning, and self-expression.

Sharing My Experience

Now, I'm honored to share this experience with my fellow neurodivergent and dyslexic readers.

If you, too, have struggled with the burden of typing, know that you're not alone.

There are technologies out there that can empower you to reclaim your voice and share your unique perspectives with the world.

It's a journey worth taking, and it has genuinely transformed my life.

Solutions to Empower Others

One of the things I love most is finding solutions - not just for myself but for others.

As a coach and consultant, it's my passion to research and explore the latest technologies, like the AI tools I've discovered, and then share them with the entrepreneurs, businesses, and educators in my network.

My goal is to empower neurodivergent and dyslexic thinkers, as well as small businesses in general, to overcome their communication and productivity challenges.

I know I can help unlock their true potential and allow them to shine by guiding them to the right AI solutions.
